AS A RESULT of the Sean Monahan deadline acquisition, the Jets will be without a first-round pick for only the second time since returning to Winnipeg in 2011. Barring any moves, it also marks the first time since the franchise’s relocation that they select only once in the first three rounds. It’s more likely this is a blip on the radar than a sign the Jets are going to stray from the draft-and-develop model that has brought the team success.
IMMEDIATE NEEDS: Brenden Dillon, Dylan DeMelo and Colin Miller can all walk this summer, and Nate Schmidt and Neal Pionk the season after. Pending RFA Logan Stanley is also set for renewal.
