THE STARS AREN’T replete with selections entering the draft, but they have their first-rounder. That’s plenty given Dallas’ draft record. Since 2017, the Stars have selected 12 players in the top 50 – and eight of them have made it to the NHL, including Miro Heiskanen, Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnston and Jake Oettinger.
IMMEDIATE NEEDS: Does Joe Pavelski return? Will Matt Duchene go hunting for a long-term deal? And should either answer really change GM Jim Nill’s need for depth up front? The Stars have a chance to make an already dynamic attack that much more fearsome if they bring aboard a couple of versatile veterans who can assume middle-six duty and contribute on the power play.
