ANN-RENEE DESBIENS >TEAM CANADA WHEN YOU’VE GOT ONE of the best-looking masks in the PWHL, there’s an expectation you’ll bring the same level of style with you wherever you go, and Ann-Renee Desbiens delivered at the 2024 Women’s World Championship while backstopping Canada to gold. Painted by Sylabrush’s Sylvie Marsolais, Desbiens’ mask went heavy on the Canadian iconography – what’s more Canadian than a hockey-playing beaver saddling up a moose? – while adding some individual flair. Soaring past the historic Chateau Frontenac is a chain-breaking snowy owl, with the Quebec provincial bird representing both Desbiens’ home province and standing as an homage to her Harry Potter fandom. It’s the back panel, though, where Desbiens incorporated some personal touches. Not only is she acknowledging her past and present with nods to PWHL Montreal…
