Relocating their AHL franchise nearby made a lot of sense for the Golden Knights. And the fans of Henderson said ‘Yes!’

I WILL ADMIT, I HAD never heard of Henderson, Nevada, until recently – and as a big fan of NCAA sports, I like to think I have an above-average handle on American geography despite being Canadian. But in the grand scheme of things, Henderson is pretty new. The town was incorporated in 1953 with a population of just 7,410. These days, Henderson is home to more than 300,000 people, and, by the sounds of it, many of them are hockey fans. See, Henderson is right next door to Las Vegas, and the latest franchise to join the AHL is the Henderson Silver Knights. The parent Vegas Golden Knights bought the San Antonio Rampage earlier this year and moved them to Henderson, recently renaming the team and setting up shop. According to Vegas…
