Dear readers, As a loyal reader, you already know that The Hockey News was founded in 1947 by Ken McKenzie and Will Cote, and no doubt members of their families helped out as is the case with most startups, which is why it is still publishing today. It was then sold to Whitney Communications of New York in 1973, which I believe wasn’t a good fit as it lost its family-ownership feel. Then Remi Marcoux acquired The Hockey News in 1986, and once again it was back in family hands as he and daughter Isabelle cradled the magazine as part of their family. When Remi retired from Transcontinental, they sold all of their magazines to the highly respected Quebecor corporation. In 2018, I was lucky enough to wrestle The Hockey News away from…
