WHEN COVID-19 DISRUPTED SPORTS in 2020, Izzy Daniel could have left Cornell to take advantage of an extra year of NCAA eligibility. But Daniel felt such a deep loyalty to the school, program and her teammates that she opted to sit out the Big Red’s cancelled 2020-21 season instead. Three years later, the captain leaves Cornell as one of the program’s most decorated players and its first to win the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award as the top NCAA women’s hockey player. “There have been so many amazing players that played at Cornell,” Daniel said. “To be the first one to win it, I’m really proud of that.
