WHEN KENDALL COYNE Schofield raised the PWHL’s Walter Cup for the first time, it was a full-circle moment. She was at the forefront of the movement to create a unified professional league for women. She was a driving force in negotiations for contracts and a leading voice among players in the formation of the PWHL. It only seemed fitting the PWHL Minnesota captain would also be the first player to hold and hoist the Walter Cup as the leader of the league’s inaugural champions. “There’s something very special about being the first to do something in life,” Coyne Schofield said. “And for us to be the first Walter Cup champions is something that is extremely special.
