CAN A PLAYER BECOME a franchise icon without performing in the playoffs? Often, post-season performance is inextricably linked with greatness, but the funny thing about standing out in the NHL’s second season is that players have to first have the opportunity to do so. Consider Rick Nash, who was a star with the Columbus Blue Jackets. His No. 61 hangs from the rafters. He is the organization’s all-time leader in goals, assists, points and leads or sits second in a handful of other major categories. But Nash’s playoff resume from his time in Columbus is almost nonexistent: four games, one goal, three points. The good people of Ohio aren’t writing folk songs about that. But Nash entered the league at a time when the rules didn’t favor expansion teams. Debate among yourselves…
