AS HE PREPARED TO represent his national team for the first time in seven years – and on home ice, no less – Petr Mrazek saw an opportunity to use his 2024 World Championship mask to reflect on personal and professional history. As a nod to the former, the mask’s left panel showcases silhouettes of Antosovice, the sparsely populated village on the outskirts of Ostrava where he grew up, with a young Mrazek tending goal on a pond. But it’s the homage to those who paved the way that will be most familiar to hockey fans. Sketched onto the mask’s right panel by DaveArt’s David Gunnarsson are portraits of legends Dominik Hasek, Jiri Holecek and Bohumil Modry.
