‘This year, I don’t really have a tough player to play against.’ Multi-talented and jumbo-sized Cayden Lindstrom is roaring in the WHL as he eyes the 2024 NHL draft

THESE DAYS, IT’S COMMON for young athletes to specialize in their preferred sport at an early age. Medicine Hat Tigers center Cayden Lindstrom took a more old-school approach while growing up in the northeastern B.C. city of Fort St. John. He refers to baseball as his second sport and also played soccer and continues to run track. When Lindstrom hit the ice for the Delta Hockey Academy’s U-17 program in September 2021, his explosive shiftiness reminded his coach, Sumeet Wareh, of a player from a different game. “He was remarkably athletic at 15,” Wareh said. “Tremendous amount of speed, skill and strength when I first saw him.
