ANTON STRALMAN isn’t done with the game quite yet, but the former NHL defenseman has been preparing for life after hockey for more than three years

LIFE FOR ANTON STRALMAN has been a lot different since he signed a one-year contract with HV71 of the Swedish League in July and returned to his native country after playing 16 seasons in the NHL split between seven teams. On Dec. 17, Stralman was driving back home to Skovde at 5 p.m. – a roughly one-hour commute from Jonkoping, where HV71 is based – after a late practice. It marked the first time this season he hadn’t had a Sunday off. With games on Thursdays and Saturdays, coupled with less travel and no back-to-backs, Stralman can plan things with a less intense, freer schedule.
