ARIZONA COYOTES IF THE COYOTES REMAIN in position to battle for their second playoff berth since 2013, they cannot and should not pass up the opportunity. But with the team’s horde of pending UFAs, their contract situations seem primed for leveraging into picks and prospects, mainly because most of those on expiring deals haven’t exactly been impact players. The most intriguing among those Arizona could offload are defenseman MATT DUMBA and left winger Jason Zucker. In Dumba’s case, his production has continued to plummet, but his physicality and shot-blocking are traits that contenders covet at this time of year. Zucker, meanwhile, is in the midst of one of his weakest offensive seasons, but he’s been known to be a streaky scorer.
