The Boston College trio of James Hagens, Gabe Perreault and Ryan Leonard used their familiarity to propel the Americans to their first repeat championship at the WJC

HEADING INTO OTTAWA, Team USA was the favorite to win the 2025 world juniors. The defending champs had a loaded lineup with plenty of experience and an incredible coach in NCAA Denver’s David Carle. In the end, the Americans did indeed win their second straight gold medal with a 4-3 overtime win over Finland, marking the first time the U.S. had ever gone back-to-back at the WJC. The Americans got solid goaltending from Trey Augustine (DET) and had the top scorer in the tournament with defenseman Cole Hutson (WSH) – the first time a blueliner has ever won the scoring title outright.
