Sabres players lead all NHL teams with 131 points at the world juniors. That makes sense given all their young talent. But McDavid’s Oilers in last?

THE WORLD JUNIOR Championship is considered to be one of the great – if not the greatest – litmus tests for the world’s most gifted youngsters. Many are the players who turned the tournament into their personal showcase. Swedish legend Peter Forsberg is the all-time leader with 42 points at the WJC. ‘The Russian Rocket’ Pavel Bure took flight after posting 27 goals across three appearances. And, most recently, 2023 No. 1 overall pick Connor Bedard solidified his spot as the world’s top prospect and led Canada to gold with 23 points in seven games. But climbing the competition’s all-time scoring list isn’t easy. Case in point, despite representing Team Canada twice, Connor McDavid and his 15 points barely crack the top 200.
