THE BAR HAS BEEN lowered at the Hockey Hall of Fame. That’s not so much an opinion or a complaint as it is a reflection of the induction facts. It’s easier today for former NHL stars to get into the Hall of Fame than it was a decade or two ago. To wit, here are the facts. Between 1994 (the last year there was an empty class) and 2015, a total of 55 NHL players were inducted over 22 classes – an average of 2.5 per year. Of those 55 players, 42 were either first- or second-year eligible for induction. So 76.4 percent of inductees were sure-fire candidates – slam dunks.
