PREDICTION | 1ST IN CENTRAL AT A GLANCE, THE price the Avalanche paid for Stanley Cup glory in 2022 was minimal. They finished atop the Central Division, third in the Western Conference and were every bit the regular-season powerhouse in 2022-23 that they’d been the campaign prior. But while the extent of the Cup hangover wasn’t evident in the standings, it was in the infirmary. Colorado was among the most banged-up clubs, losing more man-games from high-end talent than almost any other team. Despite that, the Avs came within one win of making it out of the first round.
