PREDICTION | 7TH IN CENTRAL THE COYOTES MADE THEIR Tempe debut in Arizona State University’s brand-new multi-purpose Mullett Arena, which has a modest NHL seating capacity of 4,600. Arizona had the 19th-best home record in 2022-23, finishing 21-15-5. Despite their decent showing at home, the Coyotes finished as the sixth-worst team in the league and missed the playoffs for a 10th straight season (not including the 2020 bubble). The team received some disappointing news regarding their own permanent rink and future in Tempe. The Coyotes’ plan to build a new arena in Tempe as part of a $2.1-billion entertainment district was rejected by voters in May, putting a major question mark on their future in The Valley.
