IF YOU’LL allow for the cribbing and amending of a metaphor from Seinfeld, winning the Stanley Cup is like tipping over a Coke machine. Sure, you can do it, but you need to rock it back and forth a few times before the thing will topple over. So, while it’s true there are teams who have ascended the NHL mountain without the generally requisite stumbles and falls, the clubs that muscle through in their first attempt are exceedingly few and even further between. More likely, there have been some lumps along the way.
