A 50-GOAL SCORER IN HIS rookie season, Alex Ovechkin was flirting with the plateau again as a sophomore and beginning to stake his claim as one of the greatest natural goal-scorers in NHL history. His prestige was also growing, as he landed on the cover of THN’s People of Power and Influence double issue and EA Sports’ NHL 07. He jumped from 57th on the 2005-06 list to 15th, fourth among active players, behind Sidney Crosby, Brendan Shanahan and Martin Brodeur.
