THIS PLAYFUL NOD TO Ken Linseman, infamously nicknamed ‘The Rat,’ was shot by one of the sport’s foremost documenters, Bruce Bennett, and highlighted one of the NHL’s great characters. The feature on the Flyers center, penned by 2013 Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award-winning reporter Jay Greenberg, does the cover justice, too. Beginning, hilariously, with play-by-play of Linseman’s first shift back from injury – he elbows and later trips an opponent before nearly recording an assist – the piece brilliantly provides insight into what drives the proto-pest and touches on his off-ice interests, including Ayn Rand, art collecting and gambling in Atlantic City.
