ANYTIME YOU CAN PUT the Stastny brothers and Quebec Winter Carnival mascot Bonhomme (that would be ‘snowman’ if you don’t parler Francais) on a cover, you have to do it. With Quebec Nordiques president Marcel Aubut in the middle, this group repped their city as part of a special THN package that focused on all things Quebec City, including the famed winter carnival and the city’s renowned annual peewee tournament, which still runs to this day. Also sold on the cover was an opinion column about a proposed semi-pro NHL development league that would replace major junior. The idea was for an NHL team-supervised circuit for drafted players between the ages of 18 and 22 who weren’t yet ready for the big leagues. There was a cost-saving element here for NHL…
