WINTER: Gemini

Gemini represents the twins Castor and Pollux who in mythology shared a mother, Queen Leda of Sparta, but had different fathers. Zeus is said to have visited Leda in the form of a swan (now represented in the sky by the constellation Cygnus), while a subsequent fruitful union with her husband, King Tyndareus, left the queen pregnant with four children: two mortal – Kastor (Castor) and Clytemnenstra, and two immortal – Polydeukes (Pollux) and Helen. As they grew, Castor and Pollux became inseparable and enjoyed many adventures together, including as part of Jason and the Argonauts’ search for the Golden Fleece.
