The long winter months that are often looked at as depressing and dull by many, are full of picture-making opportunities for the landscape artist. I suspect that, like me, a good many artists actively look forward to the picture-making possibilities the season brings. As the tired greens of late summer turn to orange and gold and the leaves fall from the trees to be crunched underfoot, the landscape is revealed. It's as though a green veil has been lifted. Vistas open up, hidden views are exposed and we get to see nature's framework.
