ADD SPOT COLOUR

1. CONVERT TO MONO Make any necessary adjustments in ACR, but don’t desaturate the image. Then, in Elements, duplicate the Background layer and go to Enhance>Convert to Black and White to create the desired mono effect. 2. REVEAL SOME COLOUR Next, add a layer mask to the mono layer, and select the Brush tool. Use a black brush at 100% opacity to pick out particular details or areas in colour – in this example it’s the subject’s red hat. 3. TWEAK THE CONTRAST When you’re happy with the colour-pop effect, you can adjust the overall exposure and contrast. Avoid making key details very dark or very light, because you want the viewer’s eye to be drawn to the colour.…
