A fast-food phenomenon nicknamed the Chicken Sandwich Wars has been raging since 2019, when Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen first launched its Classic Chicken Sandwich. The chain’s competitors have since galvanized in a big way, with the likes of Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s, Burger King, McDonald’s, and even Red Lobster and Taco Bell firing back with their own revamped or entirely new renditions of the fried sandwich. Each restaurant boasts its own spin on the sammy, but most feature a soft bun, a fried breast fillet and crisp pickle chips.
