Hot on the heels of War of the Ring: The Card Game (itself a card-based reworking of the War of the Ring board game) and a full Lord of the Rings-themed set in Magic: The Gathering, comes yet another attempt to wring a few more dregs of Shire ale from the Middle Earth beer towel. This alone is no reason to disparage Adventure to Mount Doom. After all, Star Wars has been mined with even greater vigour over a shorter period and we still regularly get truly excellent tabletop experiences set within that franchise.
