Success Against All Odds! A Black Male Expected to Fail, Yet Achieving His Goals and Beyond is the autobiographical story of the author's experiences in life, beginning with happy times, only to be followed by such traumatic events as his parents' divorce and, soon thereafter, the untimely and tragic death of his father when he was six years old. Filled with trauma, the author recounts years of fear, anxiety, depression and feelings of inferiority as a result of unanswered questions and the pain of the loss of his father. Through-out this book, he transparently shares his struggles within the education system that often labeled Black boys from inner-city ghettos as "Special Ed," "Severely Emotionally Disturbed," and a myriad of other racially systemic actions to dis-courage him from fulfilling his desire to complete his education. As time progressed, so did the battles for the author to remain in school and not give in to the desires to drop out and turn to negative behaviors that could and potentially would have ended his life early through a life of drugs and violence, prison, or an untimely death, to successfully graduate high school, and to go on to achieve higher education, ultimately achieving success against all odds.
