In the last decade, I've shared in thousands of conversations about Strengths. As a coach, it has been my mission to explore with my clients each aspect of what it means to be Strengths focused and to live from a place of "what it possible", instead of "what needs fixing."
What I have found, time and time again, is that when we are each able to get out of our own we can step into a life with greater meaning, less stress, and more aliveness. There is no greater tool that I have found than StrengthsFinder/CliftonStrengths to begin this journey to personal freedom.
The following pages are organized into two distinct sections. The first is a deep dive into one of the four Strengths Domains, which are: Executing, Influencing, Strategic Thinking, and Relationship Building. These are categories designed by the creators of the StrengthsFinder/CliftonStrengths, which organizes the 34 Strengths Themes into specific clusters.
The Strengths Themes represented in this collection are in the Executing Domain-Achiever, Arranger, Belief, Consistency, Deliberative, Discipline, Focus, Responsibility, and Restorative.
Here's a taste:
What Is the ACHIEVER Theme
There is a drive and an inner-fire present in the lives of those who embody this theme. They are productive and, generally, self-starting and self-fueling. They rarely need prodding to get things done. The day isn't over until something has been objectively accomplished. They are not big on theoretical achievements or simple participation-they want results, something that can be pointed to and crossed off of the list. When Achievers go on vacation, for example, they like to do things and generally make the rounds on wherever they visit. They place a high value on actions that produce tangible outcomes.
Why Should We Care
These are the people who get things done-they may even seem obsessed with it-so, when the going gets tough, Achievers are the ones to help us push through. They are the ones who set the pace, buckle down, and deliver results. They may never be satisfied with what they've done, which means they are always hungry for more and newer challenges. They help us all take projects, plans, and visions out of the theoretical and into the actual.
Ten Things to Know About People with ACHIEVER
1. Stamina. These folks have stamina when it comes to work. Long hours and pushing through can actually be sources of energy for them. (Cont'd in the book)
The second section of this book includes a collection of observations and reflections about how a "Strengths mindset" can best develop in each of us. This section is based on the epic coaching conversations I've had with people all over the world about their Strengths and the countless of hours of study and writing on this powerful tool.
The idea in both sections is to expand on the base that has created by Strengths ambassadors around the globe and the idea here is to explore each theme more deeply than ever. The idea is not to challenge the already established ideas regarding each of the 34 Strengths Themes. Instead, in the following pages, those original ideas will be built upon and, in some cases, unpacked more thoroughly than what is presently available online and in print.
