CRONOLOGIA 1136 Nella Storia dei re di Britannia viene menzionato per la prima volta il nome della spada Caliburn. 1191 Riccardo I d'Inghilterra regala una presunta Excalibur, la spada di re Artù, al re Tancredi di Sicilia. 1215-1230 In Lancillotto in prosa Artù, ferito a morte, ordina allo scudiero Griflet di gettare la sua spada in un lago. 1230 CIRCA Nella Storia di Merlino compare il racconto della spada estratta da un'incudine da Artù, che diventa sovrano. 1240 Nel Seguito della storia di Merlino, la Dama del Lago dà ad Artù Excalibur, che dovrà lanciare nel lago prima di morire. 1470 Thomas Malory scrive La morte di Artù, pubblicato nel 1485, che è la fonte principale del ciclo arturiano.…
