CRONOLOGIA 1474 Il 17 maggio di 550 anni fa nasce a Ferrara Isabella d’Este, figlia del duca Ercole I e di Eleonora d’Aragona. 1490 La giovane, nemmeno sedicenne, va in sposa a Francesco II Gonzaga, diventando così marchesa di Mantova. 1509-1510 Per circa un anno assume la reggenza e la difesa del marchesato mentre il marito è prigioniero a Venezia. 1519-1521 Rimasta vedova, torna a reggere Mantova in attesa che il figlio Federico raggiunga la maggiore età. 1539 Il 13 febbraio Isabella d’Este Gonzaga si spegne a Mantova e viene sepolta nella chiesa di Santa Paola.…
