IN QUANTO PRIMA DONNA ambasciatrice, Aleksandra Kollontaj fu oggetto di molte maldicenze. Si diceva che vestisse come un uomo, che fumasse e bevesse, che avesse una passione particolare per i gioielli preziosi. Al fine di schivare tali critiche, Kollontaj indossava semplici vestiti neri. La sua perizia nelle lingue – parlava inglese, francese, tedesco e finlandese –, la sua grande cultura e l'abilità nella conversazione la resero un'eccellente diplomatica. Venne persino candidata al Nobel per la pace grazie al ruolo svolto durante le negoziazioni che misero fine alla guerra tra l'Urss e la Finlandia nel 1944.…
