VULCAN 421 C.E. (Earth Calendar) So many lives wasted, Suvok lamented. So much destruction. The mathematician squinted to guard his eyes from a searing wind laced with radioactive dust. Deadly gusts plagued the surface of Vulcan, and would do so for decades to come – just one consequence of a world ravaged by decades of civil war. To the south, the ruined city of K’lan-ne spewed black smoke into the ruddy morning sky. It and dozens more cities had been left to smolder like the ancient grudges Suvok blamed for their annihilation. Steep is the price of ignorance wedded to pride and anger.
