3190 Ambassador Laira Rillak sat in the reception area outside the office of Federation President Ligg, trying very hard not to fidget. Ligg’s assistant – like the president herself, a native of Tellar, the only founding member world still in the Federation – touched her ear and then said, “The president will see you now, Madam Ambassador.” Rillak smiled and nodded as she slowly got to her feet, walking past the assistant’s desk to the doors that parted at her approach. Inside, the elderly Tellarite woman who’d led the Federation for six terms was sitting at her desk reading a holo display.
