“Oh, Wesley… I wish you'd had a chance to get to know your father.” How many times did I hear my mother say those words? As a boy, I lost count. Any time I asked about Dad, Mom's eyes misted over, her voice broke, and she tried to change the subject. I could ask her about anything else and get an answer, but whenever I wanted to know something about the late Lieutenant Commander Jack R. Crusher, she'd suddenly be at a loss for words.
