A FEW YEARS AGO, reports that the world’s bee population was declining led to a bit of a panic. Bees pollinate plants, and removing the little buzzers from the picture could have dire consequences for the human food chain. All of which is to say: Bees have a significant place in our world. Just not at sporting events. That became evident in March, when Carlos Alcaraz was stung on the forehead when a swarm descended on the court at a tournament in California. His match was delayed by nearly two hours. (Alcaraz ultimately won.) Then in April, there was more bee-related drama.
