Your latest novel, The Last Girl To Die, is set on Mull and has a supernatural plot. Have you ever encountered a spirit? When our son Gabriel was nearly three, he was in hospital with a bad stomach virus. Gabriel started talking to my husband David about a boy in his room – David assumed it was an imaginary friend. Then, our son said the child was called Edwin and added, ‘He’s in the corner – can’t you see him?’ On another visit, Gabriel said, ‘Edwin says when children come into hospital they die. He’s scaring me.’ My husband and I were really worried, but when we asked the nurses about Gabriel’s experiences they behaved strangely and wouldn’t talk about it.
