A ritual for… Spreading your wings

As butterfly season is upon us, call on the inspirational and motivational power of this spiritual creature

Step one On a warm summer’s day, go out into the countryside or a park, with a sketchbook and some coloured pens. Find a comfortable spot to sit, somewhere you won’t be disturbed – you may want to take a picnic blanket. Draw an image of a large butterfly in your sketchbook. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but make sure it has wings with four sections. Step two In the top left section, choose a coloured pen and write down four things you’d like to experience this summer – anything from a day trip to the beach to jetting off on a far-flung adventure. Write down the first things that spring to mind and don’t overthink it. In the bottom left section, choose another coloured pen and jot down…
