Don’t let feeling daunted put you off starting a yoga practice this year. Here are the seven things you need to know to get the most out of your class

Every week, around 460,000 people take part in a yoga class in the UK, and it’s no wonder as this ancient practice can help reduce stress and increase strength and flexibility. ‘However, it can be daunting joining a new yoga class, especially if you’re a beginner,’ says yoga teacher Monica Cafferky. ‘You may be worried about not being flexible enough or as good as other people in the class. ‘But it’s a myth that you need to be bendy – the majority of yoginis can’t put their head behind their leg – nor do they need to!
