My teenage years and early twenties were very different to most people’s. Due to family issues, I ended up on the streets when I was 15 and spent the next seven years trying to survive. I didn’t have a TV to watch, or a fridge to raid, and there were certainly no nice clothes. In the winter of 1993, I was lying in a squat, weighing six stone.
