Herbal medicine is the use of plants to treat disease and maintain or enhance general health and wellbeing.
It’s a practice that dates back thousands and thousands of years, and the uses of various plants have ancient origins in particular cultures.
Herbal medicine may have ancient roots (no pun intended) but the use of plant medicine is widespread to this day; 88 per cent of countries are thought to use traditional medicine, such as indigenous therapies and herbal medicines, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
