Have you ever seen a tarot reader pull a card out of the deck and place it next to the rest of the cards before a reading? This is called a signifier card. A signifier card is a card that identifies with you, a person you know, or the person you are reading for. It’s an old trick tarot readers used to do before every session. At the start of a reading, the tarot reader would either ask the person they were reading for to choose their own signifier card (even if they didn’t know what the cards meant) or they would pull a card for them.
