Since the pandemic, a growing number of us have swapped big cities for rural areas that offer a slower pace of life, and personal finance company Forbes Advisor has now conducted research into which areas of England have the most and least-relaxed residents.
Each English county or region was assessed to determine how stressed residents were by logging internet searches for phrases like ‘relaxation techniques’ and ‘how to reduce stress’. Using this criteria, County Durham was crowned the region with the most relaxed dwellers, while Nottinghamshire came in at number two and Gloucestershire was third. At the other end of the scale, Bristol came bottom in 46th place, while Merseyside and Manchester were also among the top five most-stressed regions.
