Virtual reality therapy

While it’s well known that therapy can be one of the most effective ways to treat mental health conditions, opening up to a stranger can feel intimidating – especially for the first time. Interestingly, though, the way we do therapy could all be about to change as a new virtual reality study by Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia, found that 30 per cent of people preferred interacting with a virtual reality avatar over a face-to-face conversation with a therapist. Experts believe the findings could pave the way for making virtual reality a mainstream therapy practice within the next five years.…
