We have a soft spot for AURALiC streamers and DACs (with Sound+Image award-winners in their ranks in previous years). At High End the company showed off the brand-new LEO GX Reference Master Clock (pictured below), a component designed for G Series DAC products — both its current VEGA G2 and future models. It’s claimed to be an entirely new type of dedicated clocking component that serves as a complete DAC clock replacement, rather than being limited by the DAC’s own internal clock, the precision of which usually limits the system. Separate temperature-controlled clocks for 44.1k and 48k-based signals operate at 90.3168MHz and 98.304MHz respectively, and the direct interplay between LEO GX and VEGA G2 removes the need for PLL (phase lock loop) circuits.
