September 20, 2018, was a day McKameys fans had long dreaded. That was the day it was announced that the iconic, award-winning group would be retiring from full-time music ministry. The farewell tour lasted just over a year, and on November 23, 2019, The McKameys took their final bows at the Civic Auditorium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
At the time, none of the group members had plans to continue touring in other capacities. However, God had other plans, and in 2020, McKamey Legacy was born. This family trio, made up of longtime McKameys members Connie, Roger, and Eli Fortner, has successfully managed to create a group that not only pays homage to their family’s musical roots, but also showcases their own, unique style as well.
