As a nation, we love to buy food just as much as we love to eat it, with the average weekly expenditure on food estimated at £29.71 per person in 2017, a figure which rises almost every year. But with all this spending on food, comes a rather sombre and humbling statistic, which may just make you think twice about your relationship with your shopping habits.
