SHARKS

Sharks have been around for over 400 million years, making them older than dinosaurs.

Sharks have a unique sixth sense called electroreception, which lets them detect electric fields made by other animals. Sharks have multiple rows of teeth. A shark can lose and replace thousands of teeth in its lifetime. There are more than 500 different species of sharks. Sharks play a crucial role in marine ecosystems as top predators, helping maintain the balance of aquatic life. Many shark species are threatened or endangered due to overfishing, habitat destruction and climate change. The whale shark is the largest shark species. It can grow up to 60 feet in length.
