An alternative Christmas sees our friend exploring the Black Isle even more fully than usual

Another year and another Christmas are behind us, with many good memories and, by the time you read this, spring might be at your door. It was my family’s ‘alternative’ Christmas, when the married ones join up with their in-laws and Mary and I chill out together and make last-minute plans, depending on the weather. We decided to go to Midnight Mass, which was actually three hours before midnight, and Mary came back here afterwards, so we had the whole of Christmas Day to play with. We woke to glorious sunshine and agreed that a walk would be a perfect start, during which we could plan what to do with the rest of the day.
