Though many visitors to the village of Roslin, just eight miles south of Edinburgh, will be familiar with Rosslyn Chapel and its links to a masonry mystery (see page 42), fewer know about the historic home that stands nearby: Rosslyn Castle.
In 2025, the Rosslyn Chapel Trust, which looks after both buildings, is hoping to change this disparity by inviting visitors to stay in its spectacular self-catering guest accommodation found in the castle’s East Range, which can be booked through the Landmark Trust’s website.
Rosslyn Castle, which dates from at least the 14th century, and sits in the woodland setting of Roslin Glen on the edge of the River North Esk, was the ancestral home of the wealthy St Clair family, who founded the famous chapel.
