The Rule of the Theotokos According to Saint Seraphim of Sarov is a devotional that contains the prayer rule originally given by the Holy Virgin, the Mother of God, to a monk in eighth century Egypt. It was prayed by Christians at the time, then fell into disuse. The rule was revived by the great Russian saint, Seraphim of Sarov, who advocated that all his spiritual children pray it daily to ensure their salvation. The Rule is made up of 150 recitations of the Angelic Salutation with corresponding meditative mysteries on the lives of the Lord, Jesus Christ, and the Theotokos, together with accompanying prayers as well as introductory and final prayers. Each meditation is illustrated by a traditional icon of the mystery in full color. The book also contains photographs of five different precious relics of the Theotokos that have been handed down throughout the centuries to the Christian faithful from the Patriarchs of Jerusalem.
